As a local MP, I regularly visit Birmingham and when I speak to people I get the sense that they have had enough of a Labour Government and are looking for something better. We are now the largest political Party on Europe's largest local authority; Birmingham City Council. It is our aspiration to continue to lead Birmingham forward: for a city that is cleaner, greener and safer. A city that is confident of its direction. A city that believes in itself and fulfils its potential as one of the world's leading cities. We are working hard at every opportunity to offer a brighter future. With dedicated supporters, activists and councillors together we are making it happen. I hope that you enjoy looking at this site.

A message from Leader of the City Council, Mike Whitby
Since taking control of the City Council in June 2004, the Progressive Partnership has begun to dramatically improve services for the people of Birmingham. After over 20 years of Labour failings - when even the Government said Birmingham was dangerously underperforming in key areas - we now have caring and competent Social Services, warm and decent homes for our residents and a regime of good money management and fiscal discipline. Birmingham now has the most comprehensive recycling programme ever seen and after being recognised as the "Cleanest City" in the UK, we will further invest in our Cleaner, Greener and Safer agenda.
